Early Christian Tombs - Pécs

The archaeological exhibition site known as the Early Christian Necropolis of Pécs is located in the northwestern part of Pécs city center, near the Pécs Cathedral. This 4th-century necropolis served as the burial ground for the city's early Christian inhabitants. Due to its universal significance, this archaeological complex holds a unique place among Hungary's archaeological treasures. On November 30, 2000, UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site.

Cathedral - Pécs

The Pécs Cathedral, located in the old town of Pécs (Pécsi Szent Péter és Szent Pál Székesegyház, also known as the Castle Church, Cathedral, or Basilica), founded during the time of King Stephen I, bears the stylistic features of several centuries. Its most significant transformation is associated with Mihály Pollack. The exterior of the cathedral became Classicist in some features, but Gothic stylistic elements predominantly prevail. It acquired its present form during a further reconstruction between 1882 and 1891.

Vasarely Museum

Victor Vasarely donated the collection of the Vasarely Museum, a branch of the Museum of Fine Arts, to the Hungarian state in the '80s. For the permanent display of the works he personally selected, one of the wing buildings of the Baroque Zichy Castle in Óbuda was transformed. The museum opened its doors in 1987, boasting one of the richest Vasarely collections in Central-Eastern Europe.

Zsolnay Quarter

The Zsolnay Cultural Quarter was the largest investment of the Pécs2010 European Capital of Culture project, beautifully developed over 2 years on a significant portion of the Zsolnay Porcelain Manufactory's grounds in Pécs. Thanks to this investment, the 5-hectare area of the porcelain manufactory was brought back to life.
